The production area is developed as the main circulation of the Brick Academy, which connects and intertwines with other activities such as learning or the exploration of local food and products. The thermal insulated spaces that contain ateliers, workshops, archive, library and the café in the existing house follow the line of the production. The remaining walls of the existing buildings on site define the Brick Academy.
The corridor is open towards a big courtyard to reinforce the staging of the production process for visitors who arrive from the town center or from the Castle of Grad. The expressive walls, which double function as shelves, follow the production and intensify the experience.
The recycled bricks produced in the Brick Academy are made of construction and industrial waste from the region, require no firing, which makes them ecofriendly, and help to support a circular economy.
